"I HAVE COME TO CALL SINNERS - NOT THE JUST"

Sinners have a FUTURE, NOT just a PAST -

AND THAT GOES FOR ALL OF US!

    1st Reading

"What a wretched state I am in, I am lost".  (Isaiah the Prophet).

    2nd Reading

"And last of all he appeared to me". (St. Paul,

     the Persecutor of the Church)

    The Gospel.

"Leave me Lord, I am a sinful man" (St. Peter,

the future head of the Church.

GOD DOESN'T CALL THE QUALIFIED - HE  QUALIFIES THE CALLED

"You have not chosen me. I have chosen you"

Jesus handpicked His team of disciples but they were not the sort of characters today's personnel management advisers would have recommended!

In the words of Pope Francis,

"THE NAME OF GOD IS MERCY.

And in the year of mercy:

"THE CHURCH IS A FIELD HOSPITAL FOR THE WOUNDED"

    POPE FRANCIS' YEAR OF MERCY

"The Pharisees and the Scribes complained: This man welcomes sinners and eats with them"

"Quick! Bring out the best robe and put it on him; put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. Bring the calf we have been fattening; we are going to have a feast, a celebration, because this son of mine was dead and has come back to life; he was lost and is found".

"There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one repentant sinner than over ninety-nine virtuous men who have no need of repentance".

    YEAR OF MERCY PRAYER

All loving Father, you sent Jesus your Son to show us Your mercy

and to teach us how to forgive one another.

Pour out Your Holy Spirit upon us. Help us to remember that we are all sinners. Let this Year of Mercy be a pilgrimage, a journey back to You.

Make us ambassadors of mercy, sharing Your forgiveness with everyone, especially those who feel that they are beyond Your love.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.       Amen

GOD'S PLEA IS THE SAME AS OUR MUMS - PLEASE, PLEASE COME HOME

    And on a lighter note!

"Few things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example"  (Mark Twain)

Juvenile delinquency is when  kids start acting like their fathers!

Raising kids is like eating grapefruit: no matter how you do it, the little squirts get to you.!

Children are natural mimics; they act like their parents despite every attempt to teach them good manners!

"Fr. John, keep your words soft and tender - tomorrow you may have to eat them!"

    SO, SHORT AND SWEET!
