You must come away to some lonely place and rest” (today’s Gospel)

“All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.”

It’s called the ‘burn-out’ syndrome.

Our time of quiet is vital if we are to renew our energy

SO TAKE TIME!

Time to laugh; it is the music of the soul. Time to think, it is the source of power, Time to play, it is the source of perpetual youth. Time to read, it is the fountain of wisdom.

TIME TO PRAY IS THE GREATEST POWER ON EARTH

Prayer is simply a conversation with God

We talk to people on the ‘phone but can’t see them on the other end of the line. It’s the same as talking to God. He’s on the other end but you can’t see him. He is listening though! Yes He’s a listening God! But He’s not a ‘bell-boy’ providing the ultimate in room service!

How sad that it’s only when we’re desperate when we turn to prayers.

PRAYER IS SIMPLY ACTS

Adore                    “You are too great O God to be understood”

Contrition            “I am sorry I don’t live up to my dignity as a child of God.

Thanks  “I thank you for the wonder of my being.”

Supplication        “Keep me and my loved ones in your love.”

ST LUKE’S CHIDREN’S MORNING PRAYER

“Father in heaven, you love me, you are with me night and day. I want to love you always in all I do and say. I’ll try to please you Father.

ST LUKE’S CHILDREN’S NIGHT PRAYER

“Good night God, I’m going to bed. Work is over prayers are said. I’m not afraid of night, you will guard me till morning light. Amen”

AND NOWA FEW DEEP THOUGHTS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

  • 7 days without prayer makes 1 weal
  • A lot of kneeling will keep you in good standing!
  • When praying don’t give God instructions – just report for duty!!
  • He who kneels before God can stand before anyone!
  • Prayer doesn’t change God, it changes the person praying!
  • Prayer gives you the opportunity to know someone you hardly ever meet. NO, NOT GOD –YOURSELF!!!

And the last word to Blessed John Henry Newman:

“We know that it is God’s will that we should ask. We are not absolutely sure that it is His will that he should grant. If we were quite sure what God intended to do. WE SHOULD NOT PRAY”!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS
