A CITY UNITED

Our Lady of Manchester, PRAY for THEM.

O God, who has revealed that peacemakers are to be called your children, grant, we pray that we may work without ceasing to establish that justice which alone causes true and lasting peace. Through Christ our Lord.

THE FEAST OF THE ASCENSION - MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

A new era is about to begin.

THE COMING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

            "You'll never walk alone"

"You will receive power from on high"

"I am with you always, yes to the end of time"

Saying goodbye is never easy. Inevitably the Apostles feel abandoned - they are devastated  and terrified. "But you are not alone." It is now that the Holy Spirit will be their strength and guide.

God sent his Son into the world to give His love to the world-

AND IT COST HIM HIS LIFE.

Now Jesus sends His Apostles with the same task -

AND IT WILL COST THEM THEIR LIVES.

We may not face persecution but at times certainly ridicule for the courage of our convictions. And inevitably at times there will be confusion and disagreement amongst His followers.

THAT'S WHY WE WILL ALWAYS NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT.

He didn't leave the Apostles to struggle by themselves and

HE WON'T LEAVE US EITHER.

"In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit"

YES, A REAL PERSON WHO LOVES, CARES, ENCOURAGES AND STRENGTHENS.

PARISH NOVENA TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit

Lord Jesus, before ascending to your Father you promised to send the Holy Spirit to your disciples. We ask you now to send your Holy Spirit upon our Parish and

give us:

The Spirit of Wisdom that we may discern the way forward.

The Spirit of Piety that we may love you with true devotion.

The Spirit of Courage that we may witness to you come what may.

The Spirit of Knowledge that we may know you in friendship and love.

The Spirit of Understanding that our minds will be enlightened by truth.

The Spirit of Counsel that we may choose the right path to follow.

The Spirit of Awe and Wonder that we may be filled with loving reverence for you.

Spirit of the Living God,  grant us today the gift of WISDOM so that we may work together to make our parish ever more missionary.

Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your people

And kindle in us the fire of your love.

Send forth your Spirit and we shall be created

And you shall renew the face of the earth.
