THERE WILL BE SIGNS IN THE SUN & MOON & STARS
ON EARTH ACTIONS IN AGONY….
Today’s Gospel is a bleak picture of the end of the world. Like all the prophets before him Jesus paints a grim picture of the FUTURE in order to INFLUENCE what is happening now. It is not meant to PARALYSE people with fear but to ENERGISE them into action.
The sheer scale of the world’s problems must not overwhelm us- don’t take to drink! Stay awake & be aware of all that is happening. The future starts today! “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing!
After GOOD FRIDAY there follows EASTER SUNDAY- TRIUMPH of GOOD over EVIL Yes LOVE conquers ALL!
His first Coming was in HUMILITY & OBSCURITY
His second Coming will be in POWER & MAJESTY!
He came not to condemn us but to save us. In Jesus, God pursues mankind with a love that is tireless, a love that refuses to allow hate & indifference & stupidity its power! He seeks the lost, the broken, the wounded. His love takes the shape of outstretched arms on a cross. “How much do you love me?” and Jesus said, “This much!” and stretched out His arms & died.
IT’S CALLED DIVINE LOVE.
AND A FEW SEASONAL THOUGHTS TO END.
A GIFT shop is where you can see all the things you hope your friends will NOT give you for Christmas!
Always label the Christmas presents you receive. Then you won’t give them back to the same people next Christmas!
And a child’s innocence:
Dear Santa. My Grandma tells me and my brother that the best Christmas present is good health. I HAVE good health so please can I have a large teddy instead, love Betty
Some people dread Christmas. It comes as something of an anti-Climax after all the hustle & bustle & pre-Christmas preparations. Has something gone seriously wrong? Worth thinking about.
