THE FEAST OF THE EPIPHANY
GOLD - OUR KING FRANKINCENSE - OUR GOD MYRRH - OUR SAVIOUR
The wise men represent ALL of us. We are ALL on a journey through life.
They had a STAR to guide them to their Saviour.
We have our FAITH to guide us to our Saviour.
"Lo within a manger lies, He who built the starry skies"
Yes, we too have found HIM -
O bread of heaven beneath this veil
THOU DOST MY VERY GOD CONCEAL
OUR UNIVERSE IS NOT RULED BY VAGUE ASTROLOGICAL OR SPIRITUAL POWERS, BUT BY THE LIVING GOD WHO CREATES AND SUSTAINS EVERYTHING THERE IS.
Yes a God who is Our Father, Who loves and cares for His creation - if we let Him!
THE NEW YEAR
"HAPPINESS IS GOOD HEALTH AND A BAD MEMORY"
As the New Year starts and the old year ends,
There's no better time to make amends,.
For all the things we sincerely regret.
And wish in our hearts we could somehow forget
We all make mistakes, for it's human to err,
But no one need ever give up in despair.
So learn from the past, look to the future and live in the present.
Yes, Happiness is good health and a bad memory!
"HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYBODY"
I am the New Year and I come to you free and unstained, fresh from the hand of God. Each day, to you a precious pearl is given, that you must string upon the silver thread of life. I give to you twelve months: the days for work and play, the nights for peaceful slumber. All that I have, I give with love unspoken, all that I ask, you keep your faith unbroken.
And a few golden oldies for the New Year
"Yes, I have my faults but being wrong isn't one of them"!
I told my Dad I needed an encyclopaedia for Christmas and he said I'd just have to walk like everyone else!
And on BIRTHDAYS!
"Fr. John, I don't know how old you are but you certainly don't look it"!(Thank you)
"Anyway, birthdays are good for you: the more you have the longer you live"!
"They say that life begins at 80, but so do lumbago, arthritis and the habit of telling the same story twice to the same people"!
"Fr. John, how old are you really?" "In all honesty, with my hand on my heart, I can say truthfully, I've just turned 28"!!!
"With your energy, life and spirit you make age jealous, time furious and all of us envious"!!! THANK YOU
Fr. John, the parishioners of St. Luke's would like to take this opportunity once again to wish you a very Happy and Healthy New Year and a Happy Birthday, and to thank you for what you are to us: For your love, kindness, care, generosity, help and of course your humour.
