The Choir was formed in 1991, shortly after Fr John’s arrival at St Luke’s, to provide music at the new Saturday evening Mass. Originally we were known as the ‘Folk Choir’ but as we sing a mix of traditional and modern we now call ourselves ‘The Saturday Choir’.
Originally accompanied by a very young Sue Cox on guitar then the Servites’ Band and now by the talented Anthony Hunt playing the organ.
As well as the Saturday Mass we take part in the Carol Service, sing at the 9.30am Christmas morning Mass and , on occasions, join the Sunday Choir. We sing at the Children’s Sacramental Masses/Services and have also sung at weddings and funerals. The choir also helps out at Sunday Coffee Mornings.
We have grown in numbers and we now have 22 members with ages ranging from 9 to 88 years! We are a friendly group and regularly get together for meals and social events.
We try to limit rehearsals but we meet before mass and occasionally stay afterwards to practise or learn new hymns.
We welcome new members and are available to sing at weddings and funerals.

There is no choir at the Sunday 9.15 mass. Here is a list of the next scheduled hymns so you can practice!
