Fr Pilkington (Curate 1973-75)

Not much is known about Fr Charles Pilkington

He was ordained 21st Dec 1969 and his first appointment was as curate to St Joseph, Mossley where he stayed until 1971. He was then appointed to the Holy Family, Denton 1971-73.
His final appoitment was to St Lukes in 1973. Towards the end of 1975 he spoke with the bishop about his future, and while officially he was granted a sabbatical, Fr Pilkington decided to leave the priesthood, finally being laicised in 1978

Fr Pilkington was a keen musician and parishioners remember him as a kind man
